The journal
New Zealand’s largest electrical wholesaler wanted a film to open its 75th anniversary celebration for 1,000 guests at NZICC Auckland.

J. A. Russell Ltd. co-founder Russell Williamson kept meticulous journals. We wove a story through his entries, using a little creative licence and some clever techniques to take aged documents and artefacts back in time.
The story is told in two parts, spanning eight decades and four generations. First, the founders' story. When Russell steps away, a new voice takes us through to today. Mixing illustration, archive footage and photography with content shot by the team, this isn't a corporate video. It's a keepsake.
Created in collaboration with National Park and composer Jeremy Cullen.
